Don’t Forget That Cardinals Pitcher Miles Mikolas Cheated, Making A-Rod Proud

-

The Cubs have beaten the Cardinals 11 straight times when Kyle Hendricks starts, but they tried everything they could Wednesday night, even resorting to A-Rod levels of cheating. Well, on the field anyway.

After a leadoff double in the third inning, Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas hit a ground ball to the left side, where Cubs shortstop Javier Báez fielded the ball and then made a pretty bad throw to first base. With the Cubs defense waiting for a bunt, it was David Bote trying to make a play on the ball in the dirt, but the ball eluded him.

Not gonna lie, at first I thought Bote just made a terrible effort to get the ball, but there was a reason he whiffed so badly. Mikolas swiped right at his glove arm as he ran across first base, preventing Bote from getting to the ball.

Mikolas would make A-Rod proud.

Unlike that incident between the Red Sox and Yankees, last night’s dirty move yielded no consequences against the Cardinals. It didn’t matter, though, as Hendricks continued his dominance leading the Cubs to a 2-0 win.
