Yasmani Grandal Sends White Sox Into First Place With Walk-Off HR

-

The White Sox are on an absolute tear and even when they make silly mistakes they find a way to win. That was once again the case Friday night, as Yasmani Grandal launched a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Royals 6-5 and send the White Sox into a tie for first place in the AL Central division.

Grandal’s monster blast came after his mental error in the top of the inning allowed the Royals to tie the game at five.

Fortunately White Sox closer Alex Colomé stranded the go-ahead run at third, getting an infield pop up and a strikeout to end the inning. That set the scene for Grandal, who leadoff the bottom of the ninth and more than made up for his mistake.

At 20-12, the White Sox are tied with the Twins and Indians atop the division.
