White Sox Picked To Reach World Series In 2018

-

Since the White Sox rebuild officially began back in December of 2016, fans and experts alike seemed to agree that 2020 was the year they would be competing for championships. The optimists have convinced themselves that they can make a run for the second wild card spot this season. Well yesterday, MLB Network’s Kevin Millar took it one step further. One giant step further.

Kevin Millar Predicts White Sox Reach The World Series In 2018

MLB Network is currently in the middle of doing their annual “30 Clubs In 30 Days” segment where they tour every team’s Spring Training facility and bump out content nonstop. Yesterday they stopped at Camelback Ranch and discussed the future of the White Sox. The interview that stood out most featured Michael Kopech, Carson Fulmer, and Lucas Giolito. When the time to compete rolls around, they believe they can have five legitimate no. 1 aces in the rotation.

At the end of the day, predictions were made for what would become of the 2018 White Sox season. Let’s just say they were pretty respectable, but also VERY bold.

Before people lose their minds, I have to say even I think that the White Sox making the playoffs is a bit of a reach, let alone the World Series. When Millar says the “young bloods will shine”, they are REALLY going to have to shine. As in Moncada hitting .300 with 30 steals and 30 home runs, Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, and Rodon to all have an ERA in the low 3’s, Eloy coming up and absolutely raking from the start, and Tim Anderson to vastly improve upon his sophomore slump campaign.

The second prediction of being in the hunt until the end of the season makes a lot more sense. It is still going to take around 85 wins to be in that discussion, but if everything goes right, then the White Sox should at least have a shot to be in the thick of things towards September.

Predictions really don’t mean anything this time of year, but it is nice to see that the White Sox are finally starting to gain some national respect. This is one prediction that South Siders would love to become a reality.
