I still can’t believe this is real life. How in the hell are the Chicago White Sox this bad? How? Holy shit.
Saturday’s game started off rough, but who knew that Luis Robert Jr. dogging it to first base in the first inning wasn’t going to come close to the worst part of the game. The White Sox had a 3-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays and Lance Lynn had a no-hitter entering the seventh inning. The veteran right-hander had only allowed one base runner through six innings, a one-out walk in the first inning by Wander Franco. It was Franco who broke up the no-hitter, blasting a leadoff home run in the seventh.
Fine, whatever, Lynn was still having a great start after struggling through his first five of the season. Sox were still up 3-1, but then with one out Lynn allowed a single, RBI double and a walk before he was taken out by Pedro Grifol.
On his RBI double, Isaac Paredes ended up at third base after Lynn tossed the ball to Yasmani Grandal, who wasn’t paying attention. Oh and let’s also not ignore Gavin Sheets, who failed to cut off the ball in left.

But again, that was only the beginning of what was one of the worst innings of White Sox baseball maybe ever.
Aaron Bummer came in and even when he got a soft dribbler in the infield, the Rays tied the game on an infield single from Manuel Margot. Bummer got the second out of the inning, as Taylor Walls was thrown out at home. However, with the game tied 3-3 with two outs and runners at first and third, the Rays proceeded to score SEVEN MORE RUNS!
Randy Arozarena hit a three-run home run to make it 9-3 and Josh Lowe went back-to-back against Jimmy Lambert to make it an even 10-run, seventh inning for Tampa Bay against three White Sox pitchers.
Lynn was ultimately charged with four earned runs and after the Rays added single runs in the eighth and ninth inning, the White Sox starter got his fourth loss of the season. The White Sox have now lost 10 games in a row and have a 7-21 overall record.
A reminder that the seventh inning started with Lance Lynn on the mound pitching a no-hitter. Before the top of the seventh inning came to an end, White Sox fans still there starting a “sell the team” chant.
The chants did not stop.
This team is dead. There’s nothing to look forward to and the guys who are supposed to be the stars do not care.
And the White Sox made sure that everyone knew Robert Jr. wasn’t hurt and that’s why he was removed from the game. He was benched and the team let the media and fans know immediately.
Absolutely pathetic from Robert Jr.
White Sox fans do not deserve this bullshit from this team. This entire organization is quickly becoming a national laughingstock right up there with the Oakland A’s.
