Luis Robert leads the way for the White Sox in the final edition of MLB Pipeline’s top-100 prospects, ending the 2019 minor league season as the No. 3 ranked prospect in baseball.
Infielders Gavin Lux from the Dodgers and Wander Franco of the Rays finished ahead of Robert at No. 2 and No. 1, respectively. While Robert won MLB Pipeline’s minor league hitter of the year award and USA Today’s Minor League Player of the year award, Lux was named Baseball America’s minor league player of the year.
Franco, who’s only 18-years-old, spent the 2019 season at A-Ball and slashed .327/.398/.487, with nine home runs, striking out 35 times and walking 56 times. This was Franco’s second year playing minor league baseball.
The White Sox have four top-100 prospects in the latest rankings, all coming in the top-41.
Luis Robert: 3
Michael Kopech: 18
Andrew Vaughn: 22
Nick Madrigal: 41
By sometime in 2020, White Sox fans should be seeing Robert, Kopech and Madrigal all together on the South Side, joining, Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson, Dylan Cease and Lucas Giolito to form a pretty damn good core.
