Tim Anderson Sticks Up For Fernando Tatís Jr. Who Apparently Broke An Unwritten Rule No One Has Ever Heard Of

-

Imagine hitting your first career grand slam in the big leagues which also happens to be your second homer in a game that gives your team an 11-run lead. On top of the world right? What an incredible moment for Fernando Tatís Jr., who is off to an unbelievable start this season.

But wait, no, his manager is actually mad at him.

So, after San Diego’s 14-4 win Monday night, Texas manager Chris Woodward was pissed off because Tatís had the audacity to swing at a 3-0 pitch with the Padres leading 10-3.

Apparently this is some sort of unwritten rule?

So, whatever, that’s just a manager who’s lashing out at the other team. We all know it’s bullshit because if you don’t want a dude to hit a fucking slam off of you, then pitch better. Doesn’t get any more simple than that.

However, what kind of backward shit is this from Padres manager Jayce Tingler, who after the game said this.

Which eventually led to Tatís apologizing for swinging at the 3-0 pitch.

OK, so I get Tingler being kind of annoyed that Tatís missed a sign. That’s normal. Every manager is going to say, “hey what happened there, you missed a sign,” but how the fuck does it go from that to publicly calling out your young star in the media?

As stupid as Tingler sounds, if he truly believes that a guy should stop trying to score more runs in a game, then keep that as a one-on-one conversation with the player behind closed doors. Or you know, be a normal person and celebrate your dude hitting a grand slam.

What the hell is going on here? This is the shit MLB wants? Stop trying? Did Tingler feel bad because he used to be in the Rangers organization?

Anyway, White Sox shortstop joined basically everyone with a functioning brain to stick up for Tatís and he focused on Tingler not having his own player’s back.

By the way, what unwritten rule is don’t swing at 3-0 when you’re up big? If anything, I’ve only heard that when you have a big lead late in a game, that’s when you swing because you don’t want to see a struggling pitcher continue walking guys.

Just another embarrassing moment for MLB. Apologizing for being good. Holy shit.
