Tim Anderson has been out of action since June 25, when he sprained his ankle against the Red Sox. Out for nearly a month, the White Sox shortstop is nearing his return. After testing out his ankle in Chicago on Monday, the team announced that Anderson will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A.
Anderson will be in the lineup for Charlotte starting on Wednesday.
In 70 games this year, Anderson is slashing .317/.342/.491, with 11 home runs and 15 stolen bases.
Anderson could re-join the White Sox in a couple weeks at the latest.
