I mean, the Chicago White Sox probably have already been regretting that they couldn’t close the deal and sign Manny Machado back in 2019. He’s been a stud with the San Diego Padres and is poised to lead them to a division title this year. Imagine if the White Sox had Machado at third base and instead of hoping that Elvis Andrus did actually permanently fix his swing at 34-years-old after half a decade of below average offense, fans could look forward to Yoan Moncada carrying his great World Baseball Classic performance into a bounce back season at second base.
Andrew Vaughn, Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson and Manny Machado in the same infield? That would’ve been nice. He hasn’t won it yet, but this year I think White Sox fans are going to feel the sting once again of not signing Machado because he’s my pick for 2023 National League MVP.
