The White Sox lost their second game in a row to the Twins Wednesday night, but José Abreu keeps reaching big milestones in his career.
Abreu’s first-inning RBI-double that briefly gave the White Sox a lead, also set an all-time franchise record.
That was the slugger’s 30th double of the year, making it six straight seasons with at least 30 two-baggers. That broke a tie with Magglio Ordóñez for the longest such streak in White Sox history.
Through July, Abreu was having a miserable season, seeing his OPS drop to .774. But after a hot August, slashing .340/.390/.585, Abreu has increased his season OPS to .815. Still well below his career average, but at least he’s salvaging what could have been a really bad season.

Abreu also joined a unique club with his 30th double last night that includes none other than Albert Pujols and Ted Williams.
