Joe Kelly Has Strong Reaction To Josh Donaldson Suspension

-

The White Sox may be out of New York but the stench from Josh Donaldson is still lingering. Joe Kelly is one of the many members of the White Sox organization who is still heated over the whole ordeal. But that doesn’t mean he was surprised by Donaldson’s antics.

“The guy is a douche,” Kelly told the Parkins & Spiegel Show on 670 The Score.

The MLB has handed down their punishment for Josh Donaldson, after calling Tim Anderson “Jackie” multiple times during Saturday’s game. Donaldson has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine. Donaldson is appealing the suspension.

The MLB’s Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations, Michael Hill made announced the decision on Monday afternoon.

“MLB has completed the process of speaking to the individuals involved in this incident, ” Hill said. “There is no dispute over what was said on the field. Regardless of Mr. Donaldson’s intent, the comment was disrespectful and in poor judgment, particularly when viewed in the context of their prior interactions. In addition, Mr.Donaldson’s remark was a contributing factor in a bench-clearing incident between the teams, and warrants discipline.”

Joe Kelly heard about the suspension in real-time during his interview on the. Parkins & Spiegel show.”I got eight for making a silly face,” Kelly said. “Because apparently, I caused a pandemic. I caused people to get sick because benches cleared.”

Kelly was referring to a bench-clearing incident in 2020 that was sparked after he mocked Carlos Correa after a strikeout.

When asked about how the White Sox rallied around Tim Anderson and no Yankee contingent has come out to support Donaldson, Kelly responded with:

“Would you support a loser?”

But that wasn’t all he had to say about the situation. He had plenty to say about the comment in question.

“That’s horrible. That’s not tolerated in any kind of sport…Whatever it is, it wasn’t for good intentions.

“Whatever he’s saying, they’re not friends. I am half-Mexican. I have plenty of African-American friends, but I would never say that to friends, but I would never even say that to my friends that are my boys.”

Outside of his thoughts on the Josh Donaldson situation he also provided a gem on what he said to Aaron Hicks after he picked him off at second base.

Kelly said he yelled, “that a baby Aaron what the fuck are you doing!”

Kelly hasn’t even been on the team for a month and he is already proving he is a perfect fit on the South Side.
