Is Twitter A Better Pitching Coach Than Don Cooper? Let’s Check In With Prospect Zack Burdi

-

I’m not going to sit here and pretend like Don Cooper hasn’t done a lot of great work as the pitching coach for the White Sox. That would be a complete lie and even in recent years you still see examples of random guys coming in and becoming useful pitchers on the staff.

However, there are plenty of valid criticisms for the longtime pitching coach and it’s a tough look whenever one of the organization’s young pitchers appear to give credit somewhere else other than Cooper.

And yes, players should always try to get better and that includes exploring different avenues outside of the team.

With that being said, this is another bad look for Cooper. I mean, he’s already in the crosshairs of White Sox fans who’ve been asking exactly what has Cooper done as of late?

Zack Burdi, who was taken 26th overall in the 2016 draft, made his MLB debut Saturday against Cleveland. The right-hander struck out a pair of hitters and after the game one of his answers once again made fans ask, what does Coop do around here?

Burdi credits a video he saw on Twitter as being a key to his recent success.

See! Twitter isn’t so bad.

Just don’t show Rick Renteria what fans are saying about him…
