Fan Says White Sox Security Forced Them To Cover T-Shirts Because Of Reinsdorf

-

A White Sox fan claims stadium security at Guaranteed Rate Field forced them to cover up their shirts so Jerry Reinsdorf wouldn’t see them.

On Tuesday a fan posted on social media a photo of a pair of shirts that read “I don’t like our team.” The shirts, created by the local t-shirt company Obvious Shirts, are in reference to a quote White Sox GM Chris Getz made this offseason. However, according to the fan who goes by Jack From Lisle on X, security at the gate told them they had to button up their jerseys to cover the shirts or turn them inside out because “the owner sits in the box and doesn’t want to see them.”

It’s important to note that these shirts do not break any stadium rules listed in the White Sox ballpark information guide. Under attire the stadium rules state:

Obscene or indecent clothing is not allowed on park property. Noncompliance with this rule may result in ejection.

The shirts are not obscene or indecent. But apparently, they might hurt Jerry Reinsdorf’s fragile ego. For a team that drew less than 1,000 fans for the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday the White Sox can’t afford to further alienate its fans. Yet the franchise, which is being sued after a gun was allegedly snuck into the stadium last year, continues to shoot themselves in the foot.

This story comes in the same month that another White Sox fan posted a video of security at Guaranteed Rate Field trying to rip a banner out of his hand that said: “Sell The Team”. On August 11, a group of White Sox fans got the banner into the stadium without any issues. However, according to the fan who goes by Dos Can Sox on X, after hanging the banner at the 500 level security tried to take it. A short clip posted on social media shows a security guard trying to pry the sign away but the fan refuses to let go. Security eventually stopped trying to take away the sign as the game ended which allowed the fans to pose victoriously with the banner on the stadium ramp.

Despite closing in on the MLB record for the worst winning percentage in a season, the White Sox continue to be focused on all the wrong things.

Major League Baseball needs to step in and demand that Reinsdorf explain what his plan is to bring this team back to respectability. Reinsdorf has single-handedly crippled an iconic American sports team that might not recover for the better part of a decade and he seemingly could care less. Shame on you Reinsdorf. How were you raised? How could you be such a callous asshole?
