Cardinals manager Mike Matheny isn’t exactly known for being a “fun” type of guy during his six-year stint as the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2014, the Milwaukee Brewers ran an All-Star campaign for their catcher Jonathan Lucroy which poked fun at the Cardinals organization.
Instead of acknowledging the humor of it, Matheny shit his pants and threw a hissy fit. When he was asked his thoughts on the Lucroy video, he stated the Cardinals success isn’t “anything for us to apologize for” and the Cardinal Way leaves a “bad taste in peoples mouths.”
No, Cardinals fans obsession of sharing past accomplishments leave a bad taste in my mouth but that’s a completely different story.
Matheny is trying to shed his uptight reputation for a new “fun” approach for the 2017 season.
