Tyler Chatwood And The Cubs Defense Shitting The Bed In St. Louis

-

The Tyler Chatwood experience so far with the Chicago Cubs has been, what’s the word, erratic to say the least. Well actually, Chatwood walking everyone has been really consistent and so has the Cubs awful defense this past week. Both things continued Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Right from the start, Chatwood walked the first two batters. Yet, as he’s been able to do so far this year Chatwood worked around the trouble and gave up no runs. The Cubs offense then gave him a four-run in the second only to piss it away in the fourth.

Again, Chatwood walked the first two in the fourth inning and then hit the third batter to load the bases with no outs. A sac-fly was hit to center field, as Jason Heyward made a sliding catch. But of course the defense just couldn’t get through a game without an error.

Anthony Rizzo fielded a ground ball and instead of taking the easy out at first he threw over to second base, where Addison Russell dropped the ball. Just flat out dropped it. Somehow Rizzo was charged with the error, but who cares who it was on, catch the damn ball.

But Kyle Schwarber really fucked things up by doing this.

That let the Cardinals tie the game at four.

Chatwood came out for the fifth inning and walked Yadier Molina and was then taken out. He’s now walked at least five guys in four of his six starts. He entered the game with a 2.83 ERA, but the walks finally caught up to him. Obviously the defense didn’t help either.
