That’s another shitty loss for the Chicago Cubs, who flat out suck. This time it was the Pittsburgh Pirates, who came into Wrigley Field and won 3-2, as Jack Suwinski hit the game-winning home run in the ninth inning against Daniel Palencia. The Cubs’ offense had six total hits and Pete Crow-Armstrong had half of them, but even in his good game at the plate the center fielder found a way to fuck up as well.
The offense has now scored fewer than four runs in 10 of their last 15 games. Pretty much everyone in the lineup is slumping and even when a guy like PCA breaks out he ends up doing this in the ninth inning.
Ian Happ, who walked with two outs in the eighth, was also thrown out attempting to steal second base. Earlier in the game the Cubs had the bases loaded with nobody out and only scored one run on a sac-fly by Matt Shaw that tied the game at two.
What a pathetic stretch for the Cubs.
