This is going to be a no from me in case Theo is patiently waiting for my input.
The Cubs are trying to add a second baseman and preferably a left-handed hitting one. They’ve been linked to Scooter Gennett and now according to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian the Cubs have former Indians infielder Jason Kipnis on their radar.
That .442 slugging % is cool, but Kipnis hasn’t really been that productive overall against right-handed pitching for several years. As a matter of fact, since the 2016 season Kipnis only has a .739 OPS and 93 wRC+ against righties.
From 2017-19, Kipnis has been 16% worse than the average hitter overall, (84 wRC+) which is enough for me to say hard pass.

In 2019 with Cleveland, he had a slash line of .245/.304/.410, with 17 home runs in 121 games. He had a .757 OPS vs. right-handed pitching.
Just give me Brock Holt instead. Thanks.
