Pete Crow-Armstrong Unlocked a New Side Mission

-

Pete Crow-Armstrong continues to amaze and in Thursday night’s 3-2 Cubs win over the Pirates the center fielder unlocked a new side mission. PCA’s 18th home run of the season was nearly four feet above the ground, which made him the first player in the Statcast era to hit a home run that high up AND as low as only 0.86 feet off the ground in the same season.

It’s frustrating to see Crow-Armstrong swing at almost everything, but it’s also incredible to see that the Cubs rising star can not only make contact with pitches out of the strike zone, he crushes the ball.

Absolute rocket. An exit velo of 103.9mph, 393 feet on a pitch at his head. Dude is like a video game player.

Although PCA hasn’t hit well overall against lefties this season that was his fourth home run against one in 81 plate appearances this year.

The 23-year-old currently leads the Cubs in home runs and is tied with Seiya Suzuki for the team lead in RBI with 57. Through 69 games PCA continues to lead the National League with a 3.7 fWAR, ahead of last year’s MVP Shohei Ohtani, who is at 3.4 fWAR.

At 18 home runs and 21 stolen bases PCA is also on pace for a 40/40 season and is pretty close to being on pace for a 40/50 season. Stud.
