Of Course Cody Bellinger Hit a Home Run on 4/20

-

It’s a crime that Craig Counsell didn’t have Cody Bellinger in the lineup in game one of Saturday’s double header and yes I understand that it’s because the Miami Marlins had a tough lefty pitching, but Counsell deprived us of two games with a Belli bomb.

C’mon, of course Cody Bellinger was going to hit a home on 4/20.

Bellinger has now gone deep two years in a row on 4/20.

That’s how you get the ugly taste of Adbert Alzolay’s blown save out of your system in the nightcap. First-inning bomb from Bellinger for the quick lead.

Bellinger is starting to heat up after a slow couple weeks to begin the season. Heading into last week’s series finale against the Seattle Mariners, Bellinger was only slashing .167/.270/.296. Including tonight’s home run, Bellinger now has a hit in six consecutive games, raising his OPS nearly 200 points through his first plate appearance in the second game of Saturday’s double header.

The Cubs are going to need Bellinger to stay hot because Seiya Suzuki is going to be out until the middle of May with an oblique injury, while Ian Happ is now dealing with some soreness in his left hamstring, which is the same issue that sidelined him for much of spring training.
