Maybe one day MLB won’t have pompous assholes as umpires, but until that day comes I expect Javier Baez to continue his valid criticism of them.
During Friday night’s game between the Cubs and Phillies, Javier Baez worked a full count in the first inning and took a ball off the inside part of the plate for ball four. However, home plate umpire and noted jackass Joe West called the pitch strike three.
Fine, we know by now that umpires screw up several pitches every game and Baez gets that as well, but here’s what pissed off Baez. After the call he obviously questioned it and then West followed him toward the dugout, barking at him.
After the game Baez talked with reporters and he once again shared his thoughts on the way umpires treat players.
Javy Baez: "I didn't think it was a good pitch. And it wasn't. We're human. We struggle a lot in this sport. But we admit it to ourselves. There is nothing wrong with asking or talking to umpires. They need to start talking to us like humans, because they're not."

More Baez: "If anybody, it doesn't have to be them, if anybody doesn't talk to me with respect I won't talk to them with respect either."

Back in July, Baez was ejected for the first time in his career after not even doing anything wrong.

After that incident, he said that umpires treat players like animals.
Baez: "My message, we're not animals. Sometimes we ask where's that pitch or if it was a strike. They want to come at us like we offended them. We can talk things out. If you disrespect somebody than you get ejected but I don't think there was anything there to get ejected."

The sad thing is this type of attitude won’t change because you still have umpires like Joe West employed by MLB.
