It Sure Did Sound Like Cubs Announcer Made Reference to Reese McGuire’s Embarrassing Arrest

-

In 2020, Reese McGuire was arrested in Florida and charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure in his car in a shopping center parking lot near the Toronto Blue Jays spring training site. Caught jerking off in a parking lot is a brutal look and it’s an embarrassing moment that McGuire has not lived down since. He’s been on the receiving end of several jokes online by fans, opposing players and now maybe even his own TV announcer?

It sure did sound like Cubs analyst Jim Deshaies made a reference to McGuire’s past during the team’s eighth-inning rally against the Phillies Tuesday night. McGuire doubled to right-center field, driving in Nico Hoerner and then the Cubs catcher came around to score on Kyle Tucker’s RBI-single.

Take a listen to JD’s description of Tucker’s run-scoring hit.

C’mon, JD was basically winking through the TV screen right before he said Tucker jerked the ball to right.
