Guess What, The Cubs Are Mishandling Another Injury

As the Cubs were finishing off their quick, two-game sweep in Cleveland last week, Kris Bryant made a diving attempt to make a catch in left field. He fucked up his left wrist and didn’t start the first two games against the Brewers.

It was obvious that Bryant was in pain even after hitting a home run later in the game. It was bad enough that Bryant was sidelined until Saturday, but it’s become clear that his left wrist and fingers are still a nagging issue.

It’s not like Bryant was off to a good start either, but at least he was showing signs of turning the corner prior to the hand injury. He started August going 6-for-21, with two home runs and two doubles, but Bryant’s looked awful since returning to the lineup Saturday.

We can all see it and we all know his left hand is banged up. Cubs manager David Ross confirmed it on Tuesday.

All we’re getting from Bryant are pop ups and slowly hit ground balls to the left side of the infield. Ross knows he’s injured. The Cubs know he’s injured, so can someone please alert them that MLB has something called the 10-day injured list that is used for players who can’t play because of injury.

I thought this type of shit was finally going to stop in 2020, but no, the Cubs continue to get in their own way. This doesn’t just hurt Bryant, as he continues to struggle, but it’s hurting the Cubs as well.

And of course Bryant isn’t going to offer to sit out. He’s a competitor and will always want to play. This is why it’s up to teams to save players from themselves when it comes to situations like these.
