UPDATE
The 20-year-old man who fell 21 feet onto the warning track during a game between the Cubs and Pirates at PNC Park has broken his silence. Kavan Markwood told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he has not seen the footage of his fall from April 30, and feels like everything broke in his body.

“I’m all right,” he said. “I can’t really sleep. I have a lot of back pain.”
He said he will talk more after he is released from the hospital in about a week.
“Broken everything” is how Markwood described his injuries, which include back and neck injuries and a swollen hand.
“I think when I get home I’ll just put ice on it,” he said.
A GoFundMe was created for Markwood on May 2, to help with his medical bills and as of Wednesday night people donated nearly $50,000 in support.
Chief Medical Officer at Allegheny General Hospital Dr. Al Philp said Markwood was admitted to AGH with severe injuries to his skull, spine, ribs, and lungs, following the 21-foot fall.
Pittsburgh Public Safety said the incident was accidental, not criminal, on May 1 and did not plan on providing additional public updates.
Markwood’s father passed away at a young age. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Markwood’s father, Scott Markwood, died at the age of 37 in 2014, while Scott’s partner, Angela Rachelle Lawson, died in 2023 at 44.
Markwood played linebacker for the Walsh and Wheeling Division II college football teams.
