Did He Go Too Far? Pete Crow-Armstrong Fires Back at Chicago White Sox Fan

-

Pete Crow-Armstrong is catching some heat after responding to a Chicago White Sox fan who was trash-talking the Chicago Cubs center fielder in Sunday’s series finale on the South Side. Crow-Armstrong came up empty, trying to make a game-saving catch up against the wall, but Miguel Vargas’ hard-hit ball drove in two runs to tie the game, leading to a dramatic final few innings in which both teams hit massive home runs. However, Crow-Armstrong’s interaction in the outfield took over the headlines.

The White Sox fan didn’t miss her opportunity to talk some shit in the midst of another exciting game between the two Chicago rivals. After Crow-Armstrong stumbled to the ground, the fan walked over and yelled at the Cubs’ outfielder.

It didn’t seem like the most explosive exchange of words, but there was an alternative angle where you can hear Crow-Armstrong’s response.

It may not be too over the top for some, but just in case, NSFW.

Was PCA too soft? Was the fan wrong to heckle? I mean, no. This type of shit happens in every league, in every sport, but you rarely see that type of face-to-face interaction because not many baseball stadiums have seats at field level like Rate Field does.

For the fans in Chicago who care about this rivalry more than anything else in the regular season, this was gold for them. White Sox fans should talk shit whenever they get the chance, and while you may think Crow-Armstrong’s reaction was immature or too vulgar, that’s the fire Cubs and White Sox fans want to see when these two teams play.

A few years ago, there was another great fan/player moment in Wrigley Field, where Cubs fans were talking shit to Luis Robert Jr., who then shushed them after hitting a clutch home run.

But we’ll leave it to you. Did Pete Crow-Armstrong go too far, or was this fair play all round? Let us know and make sure to check out the Crosstown Classic series recap on the Pinwheels And Ivy Podcast.
