Danny Hultzen, The 2nd Overall Pick In The 2011 Draft, Is Finally Getting Called Up To The Majors With The Cubs

-

This is a great baseball story.

Left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen was taken with the second overall pick of the 2011 MLB draft by the Mariners. He was on the fast track to make it to the big leagues, but injuries derailed his development and he was completely out of baseball in 2017.

Yet, the Cubs signed him in 2018, and eight years after being drafted Hultzen is getting called up to the majors.

He was dominant in 14 appearances with the Iowa Cubs in 2019, showing off his talent in his limited pitching schedule. Hultzen struck out 23 batters in 14.1 innings, allowing just four hits and two runs in the process.

Hultzen isn’t on the 40-man roster, so the Cubs will have to make a move to add him to the roster. The lefty has a 2.85 ERA in 192.2 innings during his minor league career.

Just an awesome comeback story. You can read more about him below.
