If the Cardinals want to get close to their full 60-game schedule this season, then they’ll have to play 55 games in the next 43 days. Obviously, there are going to be a bunch of doubleheaders.

The Cardinals haven’t played since July 29, after several players and coaches tested positive for COVID-19, and even more confirmed cases started to trickle in following the first wave. They will return to action Saturday against the White Sox in a doubleheader and then they’ll play five games in three days against the Cubs next week.

As part of the 10 head-to-head games between the Cubs and Cardinals in 2020, seven of those were originally scheduled to be played at Wrigley Field. Now, with a bunch of scheduling changes because of the missed time, all 10 games will be played in Chicago.

Besides the doubleheaders on Monday and Wednesday, the Cubs will have another doubleheader in September against the Cardinals.

The Cubs also have a doubleheader against the Reds on Aug. 29. That’s a make up date from their July 30th game that was rained out.

And in case you were wondering, here are the other schedule changes for the Cardinals.

Even with the changes, the Cardinals will still fall short of 60 games if everything works out to plan.

A quick reminder that all doubleheaders this season will only be seven innings.
