The Cubs are off to their best start since 1970, and at 12-3 to begin the 2020 season they have a chance to create even more distance between them and the rest of the division this weekend. The Cubs open up a 10-game home stand on Thursday, as they’ll begin a four-game series against the Brewers.

Yu Darvish will get the start in game one and he’ll be matched up against former Cubs pitcher Brett Anderson, who was briefly with the team in 2017, before he was let go in the summer.

Remember him?

Yes, this jackass.

Yeah, it was great to see Anderson finally being able to just go out and pitch, as he finished the 2017 season with a 5.13 ERA in seven starts for the Blue Jays. But congrats to him for finally staying healthy last year, when he threw more than 81 innings for the first time since 2015.

As for the Cubs lineup, Kris Bryant starts in left field for the second straight game as Kyle Schwarber gets the day off with a lefty on the mound.

Steven Souza Jr. and Nico Hoerner return to the lineup as well, while David Bote is at third once again. Anthony Rizzo is the only left-handed batter against Anderson Thursday night.

The Cubs enter Thursday’s action with a 5.5 game lead over the Brewers and Reds.
