Cody Bellinger Crushes 3-Run Home Run!

-

You know this one felt great for Cody Bellinger. After going hitless in the first three games of the season at Wrigley Field against the Milwaukee Brewers, Bellinger crushed a three-run home run in his first plate appearance against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

Bellinger was 0-for-11 in the opening series, but his first hit was a big one, giving the Cubs a quick 3-0 lead after Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson started the game with two consecutive singles.

Bellinger, who is still only 27-years-old, is trying to rebuild his value after having two brutal seasons following a shoulder injury. After hitting 39, 25 and then 47 in his first three seasons in the majors, Bellinger hit 10 in 95 games in 2021 and 19 last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 144 games.

The Cubs don’t have a lot of power in their lineup, so Bellinger finding his power swing again would be a huge plus for this team in 2023.
