There is no stopping the Chicago Cubs right now. Even after blowing a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning, the Cubs responded in the bottom half with a game-tying blast off the bat of Pete Crow-Armstrong. The latest heroics sent a shockwave through Wrigley Field so powerful that it even left the Cincinnati Reds broadcast booth literally shaking.
Don’t believe me? Well, those were the words of John Sadak, the Reds’ play-by-play man. Crow-Armstrong’s fourth home run of the season came against Cincinnati’s best relief pitcher, Graham Ashcraft, who entered Wednesday’s game with a 1.02 ERA through his first 17 appearances of the season. The two-run home run by the Cubs’ center fielder extended the game to extra innings, eventually capped off by Chicago’s third straight walk-off victory over Cincinnati.
Before Michael Busch walked with the bases loaded to extend the Cubs’ current winning streak to eight games, and 14 straight at home, Crow-Armstrong had Wrigley Field rocking.
“Our booth is literally shaking right now.” What an awesome call from the opposing team’s broadcast.

There’s no doubt that Crow-Armstrong brings a lot of attention upon himself, and that’s obviously not always going to be positive. He broke out in 2025, became the team’s first 30/30 player since the 90s, and was an All-Star, but he also declined significantly at the plate in the second half.
Those struggles continued into this year, yet Crow-Armstrong is showing everyone that he can get hot at any moment. After beginning the season with a slash line of .203/.239/.266 in 68 plate appearances, Crow-Armstrong has been pretty damn good during the past three weeks.
The clutch two-run home run raised Crow-Armstrong’s slash line to .284/.369/.500, a 145 wRC+ in the last 21 games. That offensive output ranks third among all center fielders since April 14.
Slowly, but surely, Crow-Armstrong’s numbers are rising. He’s now at 97 wRC+, and through 37 games, FanGraphs has him at 1.4 fWAR.
