Sometimes you forget how young Albert Almora Jr. is because you’ve heard about him for such a long time. In 2016, he finally made his MLB debut for the Chicago Cubs and as a rookie earned himself a spot on the postseason roster. Now, a World Series champion, Almora will have a bigger role for the Cubs in 2017.
He was the first player drafted under the Theo Epstein regime and although Almora wasn’t know for his power in the minors, he showed off some pop against the Texas Rangers on Sunday. With the bases loaded in the fifth inning, Almora hit a grand slam, crushing a pitch to left field.

You can’t say this enough, with so many great young players already on the Major League roster and more waiting in the minors, it’s a great time to be a fan of the Cubs. Oh by the way, Willson Contreras also hit a home run during Sunday’s game.
