Yeah, you remember what you were saying, or maybe it was your brother, sister, wife, husband or a friend. They were out there losing their mind after the Chicago Cubs got shutout for the second game in a row, losing 1-0 to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cubs sucked and you doubted them. The starting rotation was overrated and Theo Epstein was an idiot for signing Yu Darvish. The offense wasn’t any good and the 2018 season was over. Oh, you stupid people.

Well, as it turns out overreacting over a five-game sample size isn’t the greatest mechanism for judging a baseball team that plays 162 games. Especially not this team that has won nearly 300 games from 2015-17, has two straight division titles and three consecutive trips to the NLCS.

But here we are at the end of April and after a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rockies, the fifth straight victory for the Cubs, there’s a new team at the top of the NL Central Division standings.

And you’re right, a 26-game sample size doesn’t guarantee future success either, but I’ll take my chances with this team because they’ve proven year in and year out under their new management to be a great team.

So, please keep bitching about the offense not scoring enough to your liking right now because honestly if you were worried on April 2, I have a feeling you’re just one miserable fan waiting for the sky to fall.

You know what though, jump back on the bandwagon. Enjoy the ride, but doubt the Cubs, these Cubs, again and you can get the fuck right back out. The Cubs are the kings of NL Central. Accept it and don’t stress out. It’s not worth it.

Save that for October, when things actually get stressful. Then get as annoying as you want, but stop with the Cubs are bad schtick.

You’ve seen this team dominate for three years. You know better by now.
