95-Year-Old Cubs Fan Dies, Takes A Shot At The Ricketts Family In Her Obituary

Shoutout to Joanne DeVrieze, who sadly passed away earlier this month at the age of 95. But even in death the die-hard Cubs fan showed why she earned the unofficial Quad Cities title of “funniest old woman on Facebook.

Here’s how DeVrieze’s obituary ended.

Donations in Joanne’s memory may be directed toward the impoverished Ricketts family of Chicago, Illinois, for purposes of assembling a near-Major League-caliber bullpen, or to be dispersed per family wishes.

Hey, when you lived to be 95-years-old and are a Cubs fan, having a sense a humor is a must. Touch ’em all Joanne.

While the Cubs have gone with a bulk strategy to fix their bullpen woes this offseason, the front office’s main task this winter has been to cut payroll and get below the luxury tax threshold. So far, Jeremy Jeffress is the only free agent reliever the Cubs have signed to an MLB contract this offseason.

You know what, I don’t even care that one of her sons (Craig) might have been the one who added that dig at the Ricketts because that’s probably what happened. But hey, at least his mom is being remembered a little longer.
