It was a long, painful process for Chicago Bulls fans. Yet the end result is what they wanted. Gar Forman is out. John Paxson no longer leads the basketball operations. Now Jim Boylen is fired as well. The organization will have a clean start for the 2020-2021 season. VP Arturas Karnisovas is running the show with right-hand man Marc Eversley. The belief around the NBA is the team is in good hands.

The next order of business is to find Boylen’s replacement. Somebody Karnisovas said needs to be adept at “player development” above anything else. It’s clear he believes the Bulls have a strong core of young players on their roster. He wants somebody who can come in and get this group playing as they should.

Top NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski stated in a recent video for ESPN that the Bulls won’t have any shortage of interested candidates.

“Now they’ll set their sights on a coaching search for a job that is attractive to candidates around the league. The Bulls have excellent young talent. It’s the kind of team that coaches believe could have a fairly significant turnaround in a short period of time.”

Chicago Bulls don’t have to rush their decision

One good thing about this is no other NBA team is actively searching for a new coach. The New York Knicks already found their man in Tom Thibodeau. So the Bulls basically have the stage to themselves. That means they are free to take their time in conducting this search properly. Karnisovas has shown he is a man who acts deliberately and with a plan to be thorough.

Thus far several names have been connected to the team. Former Nets coach Kenny Atkinson is one. Philadelphia 76ers assistant Ime Udoka is rumored to be the current favorite with Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin in the mix as well. Odds are more names will be added to the list. One source told Sports Mockery that Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard is somebody they’re looking at too.

Beard took the Red Raiders to their first-ever national title game in 2019. There are also rumors that Kentucky head coach John Calipari is interested in the job. So there are several directions this could end up going.
