Through three games of the 2025-26 regular season, the Bulls are somehow 3-0. They have been underdogs in the first three, two coming against playoff opponents from a season ago. All three victories came in different fashions, and last night’s appeared the least likely. After trailing most of the night, a late comeback against Atlanta helped maintain the undefeated start to this campaign. One player has been undeniably the most crucial asset on the roster, and many aren’t even giving him his flowers. In a contract season, he’s certainly earning a lucrative extension.
Ayo Dosunmu Is Quietly The MVP
While Josh Giddey and Nikola Vucevic have stolen the headlines by leading the scoring and facilitating departments, stellar contributions have been made across the board. Isaac Okoro’s defense, Tre Jones’s two-way performances, Matas Buzelis’s explosive plays, and Kevin Huerter’s offensive consistency have helped Chicago to its 3-0 start. Most of all, Ayo Dosunmu’s contributions all over the floor have won the Bulls games. Tonight’s fourth-quarter heroics were the most obvious of his stellar stretches, but each game he’s proven irreplaceable to this operation.

Tonight, he scored eight of Chicago’s final 18, including two three-point makes to cut the lead to one with five minutes remaining, and take the lead with just over four minutes to play. His clutch scoring, combined with menacing perimeter defense, was the backbone for the comeback at home.
Finding Consistency In His Role
Dosunmu’s most apparent weakness has always been consistency. Some nights, he’s on fire from anywhere on the floor offensively and locking down the opposition defensively. In other games, he disappears on offense, plays too timidly, and does not make an impact on defense. Although it’s only been three games, the steadiness in his impact has made all the difference. In each outing, he has scored at least 14 points, made at least two three-point shots, and shot over 42% from the field. This year, he’s shooting 55.8% from the floor, including a blazing 60.0% from beyond the arc, while averaging over 16 points per game. While those numbers won’t be sustainable, the increased efficiency is evident, and his ability to drive the scoring of the second unit is impressive.

In a season that will be entirely about developing young talent, determining who is here to stay and contribute, and who can be moved along, Dosunmu is making his mark every night. He’s silently becoming one of Chicago’s most valuable assets and a second-round steal from the NBA draft a few seasons ago.
