Anybody who has watched or studied the life of Michael Jordan knows one thing. If he so much as smells a challenge, he’s going to embrace it and make sure he’s the best. Come hell or high water. Nobody had a competitive streak like the Chicago Bulls icon. It wasn’t just true of basketball. He bet on anything and everything from golf to pool to tossing coins near a wall. The guy even played Bejeweled so much that he achieved the highest rank possible in the game.

So is it any surprise that Jordan made sure he topped everybody when it came to making a strong financial statement in pursuit of racial equality? In the wake of the George Floyd killing and the spreading of protests around the U.S., the Jordan Brand decided to act. Over the course of the next 10 years, he would be donating $100 million to various charities and organizations striving to bring about the fairer treatment of minorities.

Keep in mind the Walt Disney Corporation, which has assets worth over $193 billion, donated just $5 million to this cause. This should paint a clear picture of how all-in Jordan just went.

People often criticized Jordan back in his playing days for not doing enough to help the black community excel. Specifically in politics. Time seems to have offered him a necessary education on all the good his substantial reach can do. That money is going to be a huge help in the fight for a better future for the younger generations to come.
