VIDEO: D.J. Moore Rips Off Long TD In First-Ever Catch As A Bear

-

The Chicago Bears traded for D.J. Moore in hopes that he could finally help elevate the Chicago Bears’ passing game. It didn’t take him long to confirm those hopes. In the first preseason game against Tennessee, Justin Fields threw a bubble screen to Moore on 2nd and 9. After corralling the ball, the receiver turned up field and raced 62 yards for a touchdown. That is the kind of play the Bears didn’t have last year. It was confirmation Fields may finally have a receiver that makes life easier for him.

The best part about that play was that the execution wasn’t great. Fields’ throw was a little off-target, forcing Moore to adjust. That means the coaches will have something to teach despite the great outcome. What was really encouraging about the play was how great the blocking was to spring Moore in the first place. He wasn’t even touched. If that is a taste of things to come, defending the Bears offense gets a lot more difficult this season. Don’t forget they aren’t doing much in the way of scheming right now.

D.J. Moore is only scratching the surface.

That bubble screen is something he wasn’t used much in during his time in Carolina. Moore is far more dangerous on intermediate throws, especially over the middle. That is where his route running can be so deadly. It’s probably not a coincidence the Bears avoided using him in that capacity. Either way, they don’t need to feature him much more this preseason. They already know he can play. Might as well keep him in bubble wrap until the Green Bay Packers step to the plate in Week 1.

It will be fun to see what other wrinkles Luke Getsy may have in store. D.J. Moore is capable of almost anything as a receiver. He can be a creative mind’s dream thanks to his speed and deceptive strength. Other receivers hope to take advantage of his presence.

Ok. Two drives two touchdowns. Pull the offensive starters now! Since the defense is trying to stop the second and third string quarterbacks, I’d leave them out there the whole first half.
