Top Insider Doubles Down That Matt Eberflus Is Done In Chicago

-

Insiders tend not to share their opinions often regarding the job status of a coach or player. They don’t want to be caught in case something unexpected happens. However, others have enough confidence in their sources that they aren’t afraid to state what they believe to be facts. Thus far, nobody has weighed in on the Matt Eberflus situation. Most agree the Chicago Bears head coach is in hot water. He’s only won seven of his first 29 games, the worst start of any in franchise history. His tenure has been marred by sloppy play and late-game collapses. He also hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record.

Plenty of people continue to say there is a serious chance Eberflus returns. After all, the defense is playing better lately. That has to count for something. Maybe a change at quarterback might be what he needs to get this team pointed in the right direction. One person who doesn’t see that happening is Benjamin Allbright. The host of KOA Colorado is one of the most proven insiders in the NFL. Anybody who has followed him for a long enough time knows his information is almost always accurate.

That is why his comments on Eberflus were impossible to ignore. He predicts eight head coaching jobs will come open this off-season, and the Bears will be one of them.

Matt Eberflus might already be on his death march.

I found it interesting when Greg Gabriel, the former Bears scout, said the Bears coach had to win four of his last five games to save himself. That seemed to indicate the organization was already preparing a change. This update from Allbright feeds into that statement. It seems as if team president Kevin Warren and GM Ryan Poles have plans to shake things up next spring. That means changes at both quarterback and head coach. Already Josina Anderson reported the team would have interest in Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as a possible replacement. Brad Biggs stated his belief the team plans to take a quarterback in the 1st round.

The smoke isn’t hard to follow. Matt Eberflus is in serious trouble. He needs to string some wins together. Unfortunately, the schedule may not cooperate. Detroit is up next on Sunday. They already beat the Bears a few weeks ago. Then it’s a visit to Cleveland against that ferocious Browns defense. Next is Arizona, who isn’t a pushover. Then comes Atlanta, who beat the Bears last year. Finally, it’s the Packers in Green Bay. We all know how that one will probably go.

So yeah, Eberflus is probably screwed.
