The Mitch Trubisky era is over for Chicago Bears fans. All they have left is the memories, both the good and the bad. One thing they’re pretty convinced of at this point? The former #2 overall pick wasn’t that good. Sure he had some good games and wasn’t helped by a rather rough coaching staff. Yet too many times he failed to take advantage of big opportunities. That is why he is now a backup with the Buffalo Bills.
Apparently, that hasn’t stopped some people from getting a little wild with their thoughts on his value. Just ask Jon Scott. For those who don’t know him, he is a Bills beat reporter for Spectrum News 1 in Buffalo. This guy has genuine access to the team and does live updates at their stadium each week. Just check out this incredible gem he tweeted out last Tuesday right before the NFL trade deadline. Credit to @thorku for catching it.

That is just…wow.
Words escape you the first time reading it. Let’s recap events. The Bears spent four years trying to make Mitch Trubisky a success. It didn’t work. His final two years went so poorly that no other team was interested in giving him a look as a potential starter. That is why the Bills snagged him for a whopping $2.5 million as a backup for this year. In the span of a couple of months, this guy convinced himself the team could collect a 1st round pick from another organization if they traded Trubisky.

Whatever that guy is smoking in Western New York, stay clear of it. That is some strong stuff. Even if the Bills wanted to trade the quarterback, there is no way they would’ve gotten a pick that high. Maybe a 5th if they were lucky and even that is a stretch. Trubisky’s value is in the toilet. If teams thought highly of him, he would be starting somewhere. To think the Bills somehow stole him and could then flip him to a QB-needy team for that much is nothing be pure ego.
