The Chicago Bears Already Locked Up Five Of Their 2025 Draft Picks

-

Over the past few years, the Chicago Bears’ contract negotiating process has felt overly sluggish. That was particularly noticeable after the draft, when it took several weeks for them to secure all of their picks. Last year, it took until July 17th to get Caleb Williams signed to his rookie deal. It caused stress for several fans, wondering if they’d have to deal with a training camp holdout similar to what Roquan Smith put them through in 2018. Thankfully, it appears they have no reason to worry this time.

Reports surfaced on Thursday that the Bears have already come to terms with five of their eight draft picks. Among them is the 10th overall selection, Colston Loveland, and all their choices from day three.

That leaves all of their 2nd round picks to get through: Luther Burden, Ozzy Trapilo, and Shemar Turner. Given the rapid speed at which things are moving, it is reasonable to presume that those will be handled within the next few days. Chicago should have everybody on board once OTAs and minicamps begin.

The Chicago Bears appear right on schedule with their summer plans.

A rookie minicamp roster was released alongside this news. It appears all of their draft picks will be in attendance. Another good sign that there won’t be any holdouts. Nobody should discount the team’s ability to avoid any offseason drama this year. Every major contract question has been answered. They didn’t faceplant in free agency or the draft. Outside of the three remaining draft picks, the only thing left on the agenda is to secure veteran guard Joe Thuney to an extension. That should be taken care of before training camp in July. Everything feels like the Chicago Bears are ready to go. Coaches are prepared. Players are gearing up. The fun will soon begin.
