Russell Wilson Trade Possibility “Picking Up Steam” (With Added Bonus)

-

Even as the NFL offseason continues to chug along, everybody is keeping one eye on the situation in Seattle. Something is going on between the Seahawks and their star quarterback Russell Wilson. A disconnect exists and appears to be far more significant than even people close to the situation realized. Enough to where there is a genuine belief a trade could happen.

Mike Silver of NFL Network has already gone on record saying it’s bad. There is a lot of frustration in that building. Relationships have turned frosty. Wilson isn’t happy with the overall state of the offense, especially his blocking. Seahawks brass doesn’t appear willing to make any significant changes to their overall philosophy on that side of the ball.

That is what has led to the QB leaking teams he wouldn’t mind going to.

Dianna Russini of ESPN has kept apprised of the issue as well. She appeared on the Get Up program with some fascinating updates. From what she’s gathered, things are going in the wrong direction. The idea of a trade is picking up steam. It comes down to finding a team desperate enough to offer a huge package for Wilson and the Seahawks being able to find a suitable replacement at QB.

It gets better. In regards to possible places he could be sent? Russini said that GM John Schneider would prefer to avoid sending Wilson to a place where he has a high probability of competing for a Super Bowl title. The team referenced was the New Orleans Saints, who are one of the four on the QB’s shortlist. With two others in Dallas and Las Vegas unlikely options, that would seem to leave only one left. One desperate enough to do it.

Russell Wilson controls how things go from here

People who refuse to accept the idea a trade will happen need to look at the facts. If this weren’t serious, somebody from either Wilson’s camp or the Seahawks headquarters would’ve come out and flatly denied it. There has been nothing. Complete silence for almost two weeks now. That is not normal. Does it guarantee a trade? No. However, it provides more than enough evidence that one is possible.

As for the Bears? They are deep into this thing. A source indicated as much. They’re fully prepared to make this deal happen. It comes down to Seattle going that final step. When could that happen? There is no telling. They could do it as early as the start of free agency this week, which would give them a chance to dabble in the QB market for a replacement. Or they could push it closer to the draft trying to get the best possible package they can.

The Bears have taken up their position.

All they can do now is wait to see what the Seahawks do. Russell Wilson is a superstar and likely a future Hall of Famer. Even so, it seems the egos involved and a long history of tension has led to this pending breakup. Pretty much everybody agrees on one thing. If it doesn’t happen this year, it likely happens next year. Is there a point in delaying it? That is what Seattle is determining right now.
