Mitch Trubisky Slipped Quote of Hall of Fame Coach Past Bears Media

-

Mitch Trubisky “pressure” quote dates back to Chuck Noll

‘Pressure only appears when you’re not prepared for something.’ So that’s kind of how I feel pressure. You only get nervous or feel pressure when you’re not prepared for the situation or you don’t know what you’re doing.”

The rookie credited his high school quarterbacks coach with teaching him this line. He may not know it, but his coach undoubtedly heard it from somebody else. Based on football history, the quote actually originated from Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Fame head coach Chuck Noll. He made it a regular part of his teachings to his team during their epic Super Bowl runs in the 1970s.

Noll won an AFL championship as an assistant coach, four Super Bowls as a head coach and two more as an executive. It’s safe to say this man is the kind of person that should be quoted when it comes to performing a job under pressure. Yet that’s not even the best part about all this with Trubisky.

Noll is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. Whether he intended to or not, Trubisky quoted one of the all-time great sporting legends from his home state. That it happened at his first press conference as starting quarterback for the Bears? It almost feels like fate. Sure he still has plenty of proving to do on the field. Nonetheless it’s hard not to feel hopeful for the future.
