The first press conference of the Mitch Trubisky era was rather eye-opening for a number of reasons. In no way did the young quarterback seem nervous or put off by being there. He answered succinctly and with a degree of conviction and confidence. The Chicago Bears media were clearly trying to gauge where his head was at. Was he in awe of the job now thrust upon him?
Based on his answers, it didn’t seem that way. If anything Trubisky sounded like a caged animal finally released from its prison. Rumors have persisted that his progression over the past month in practice has caught the eyes of both coaches and teammates. He even took liberties with the Bears defense during scout team drills, intentionally trying to beat them for big plays. Often succeeding too.
However, the quote that has most people talking is the one he delivered in reply to whether he feels any pressure. While the response itself was poignant, people may not know where it originated.
