The Chicago Bears aren’t strangers to not getting obvious penalty calls. Khalil Mack is held all the time. Rare pass interferences and the list goes on. Yet the most egregious of the season happened in Detroit. As Mitch Trubisky was in the midst of making a nice play to pick up what should’ve been a 1st down, a Lions defender came in and leveled his right shoulder pad right into the quarterback’s helmet, slamming him towards the turf. It was such an obvious roughing the quarterback moment.
In fact, further camera angles showed a referee literally just a few yards away. It was right in front of him with no obstruction and he just stood there doing nothing. Trubisky got up thankfully and was fine. However, it was a bad no-call that ended up interrupting what had been a good drive for the Bears. Just another classic example of the Bears never being able to secure even the most obvious calls.
