It’s easy to forget that Mark Sanchez was a quarterback for the Chicago Bears at one point in time. Probably because it didn’t last long. He was brought in as a backup to Mitch Trubisky and Mike Glennon in 2017. His job was basically to be a sounding board and mentor for the #2 overall pick and help him adjust to the NFL as quickly as possible.
While the idea of not playing never appealed to him, Sanchez nevertheless embraced his role. As a result, he and Trubisky became tight over the course of that season. Apparently, they’ve remained so ever since. Sanchez hosts a YouTube show called 4th And Forever and he had the Bears quarterback on for a special guest Thursday.
The two talked about all sorts of topics. Their love of Bears passing game coordinator Dave Ragone. Trubisky’s handling of the tough 2019 season and subsequent competition with Nick Foles. Then there was his promising start to 2020 with back-to-back wins over Detroit and New York.
Sanchez even had a fun story to tell about that. It involved a plane and Trubisky’s huge game-winning TD throw to Anthony Miller against the Lions.

Mark Sanchez is proof again how personable Trubisky is
The fact that somebody like Sanchez, who only worked with Trubisky for one season could have that big of an emotional outburst is a testament to the Bears quarterback. If nothing else, people can never say Trubisky fails to make an impression on teammates. There isn’t a single person who has shared a locker room with him that has anything bad to say. Guys love him.
It’s why he is so easy to cheer for. Why a large section of Bears fans still believe he can work out as the starting quarterback. People like him deserve success. He is certainly off on the right foot this year. Whether he can maintain this momentum as the schedule gets more difficult is the big question left to be answered.
