Justin Fields Reportedly Welcomed D.J. Moore To Chicago In Style

-

Justin Fields wasn’t the first person to hear about the Chicago Bears trading for D.J. Moore. That wasn’t because the team failed to contact him. The quarterback happened to be asleep at the time. When he found out, Fields was obviously thrilled. It was another talented weapon for him to utilize. Moore is likely the most gifted receiver the Bears quarterback has gotten to work with in the NFL thus far. That bodes well for the coming season. However, much of this hinges on the chemistry the two build together.

First impressions mean a lot in such cases. So Fields decided to make sure his was the right kind. He explained to Larry Mayer of Chicagobears.com what he did once he and Moore got together for the first time in Chicago.

On Moore’s first night in Chicago following the trade, Fields went out for dinner with the receiver and his family. Fields later attended a Chicago Bulls game with Moore and fellow receivers Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool.

“I think it’s important, being the quarterback, for me to build that camaraderie with everyone,” Fields said. “His first night here, I went out to eat with him and his family. That was cool to get to know him a little bit. We didn’t know each other that well at that point, but the more time we’ve spent with each other the more comfortable we’ve gotten around each other. He’s a great person and, of course, a great football player.”

Often the best way to get to know a person is through his family. Fields undoubtedly did the right thing about introducing himself to Moore’s wife. Taking him to the Bulls game also gave the receiver a small taste of the types of fans he will be dealing with in Chicago. This isn’t Carolina anymore.

Justin Fields is already working with Moore on the field.

The two were spotted doing throwing drills together even before minicamps began. It’s clear they’re trying to establish chemistry as quickly as possible. Fields should already have a feel for what Moore can offer. The veteran receiver has a similar skill set to Chris Olave, whom the Bears quarterback played with at Ohio State. If this connection comes close to that one, there will be fireworks in the Chicago passing game every week. That isn’t even mentioning what Moore’s presence might do for Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool.

This is another reminder of how strong Justin Fields’ leadership is. He recognized the relationship between him and Moore had to extend beyond the practice field and Sundays. If they are going to achieve success, they had to develop a deeper understanding of each other. That comes with sharing time away from the grind. Having dinner and attending other events is a great way to do that. One can only hope the receiver got the impression his new quarterback was trying to make.

Seems that everyone is hating on Erik. I never read the other article but this gave me a better idea about JF and the kind of leader that he is and the fact that he recognizes the importance of DJ to this season and his overall success

Bill, I found your critique redundant and boring. Good job on the accidental irony though.
I do have to ask though, are you trouble? Is someone forcing you to read these articles against your will?

Bill he’s going to take the comments away if you aren’t careful. I enjoy the articles. Honestly there’s not much to write about this time of year (that hasn’t been mentioned already). At least we have content that’s posted every day.
