They were only together for two years, but Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen made some fun noise together during that time. Howard as the big, power back who churned out tough yards. Cohen as the quick, speedy sidekick who delivered the big plays. They were the focal point of the offense, which always begged the question of why the Bears didn’t try to get them on the field at the same time.

Coincidentally, it was one of those rare times that Howard used as a chance to tease his former backfield mate. Recently on Twitter, Cohen called on Bears fans with a challenge. Show him clips of plays where they feel like he messed up somehow. Then he would take them through what happened or what he was thinking at the time.

Howard decided to jump in on that action, unearthing a play from their first game together in 2017. Down near the goal line, Cohen lined up in the Wild Cat with Howard to his left. He took the snap and handed the ball off. Howard managed to take it around the edge for a touchdown to tie the game. Apparently that wasn’t supposed to be the play.

Cohen, after sniping Howard for losing his blue checkmark, defended his decision. He doesn’t play purely by the game plan. Sometimes you have to trust your instincts and go win the game.

Jordan Howard remains a treasured memory for Bears fans

This is another reminder that the NFL can be a cold business way too often. Howard was the heart and soul of the Bears offense when he played. So trading him was a real tragedy. A lot of teammates weren’t happy about it. Yes, there was a questionable scheme fit and money issues on the horizon, but as Cohen said. Sometimes the business of football needs to be set aside.

Howard was dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019. He had a productive season there before getting hurt. He became a free agent and signed with the Miami Dolphins. There he hoped to help young QB Tua Tagovailoa embark on a promising career of his own. Hopefully, David Montgomery can provide what the team lost when Howard left.
