Jay Glazer Left No Room For Doubts On What Awaits Matt Nagy

-

Jay Glazer is one of the most well-connected NFL insiders in the business. While Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport get all the hype, most agree that few are more accurate than Glazer. When he says something, you can pretty much take it to the bank. That was why so many people were tuned into the Fox NFL pre-game broadcast. They knew he’d have an update on the upcoming head coach carousel. He didn’t disappoint.

Based on what he knows as of now, there will be five certain openings at the head coach position going into next week. Jacksonville and Denver are already vacant after Vic Fangio was fired Sunday morning. Glazer is now quite confident that Matt Nagy will be one of those five. There is virtually no way the head coach is returning to Chicago. That is just further confirmation of what was expected.

Nagy burned his second, third, and fourth chances long ago.

George McCaskey gave him every chance in the world to save himself this season. He even let the team trade up to get his preferred quarterback Justin Fields in the draft. Yet Nagy somehow found a way to bungle that too. The coach just can’t seem to run a tight, disciplined program and it came back to bite him one too many times this season. He has nobody to blame but himself for this mess.

Curiously Jay Glazer had nothing to report on the Ryan Pace situation. One way or the other. No update on if the GM is staying or leaving. It is quite fascinating how the Bears have kept silent on his status. At least when it comes to the national insiders. Some around the league think Pace survives. Others are certain he’s gone. The next 24 hours figure to be quite important for the team’s future.
