Jay Cutler Pulled Total Boss Move After Tennessee Beat Alabama

-

The college football world was enraptured on Saturday as two unbeaten teams in Tennessee and Alabama prepared to do battle. Most expected the usual result. The Crimson Tide had won 16-straight against their SEC rivals. Then the Volunteers jumped to a 28-10 lead, and suddenly Bama realized they were in a dogfight. The game was an instant classic. Tied 49-49 with 15 seconds left, Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker made two outstanding throws to get his team in field goal range. The kick went through, ending the drought in spectacular fashion. The best part came afterward when players were spotted in the locker room smoking cigars. That is where Jay Cutler comes in.

The former Chicago Bears quarterback knows how hard beating Alabama can be. He played for Vanderbilt during his college days. Even back then, the red shadow loomed over the conference. So it is an extra special occasion whenever they get beat. That is why Cutler made sure to send Tennessee players and coaches a gift package of cigars. Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated revealed the details.

Jay Cutler is many things. Some good and some bad.

He’s also pretty cool when he chooses to be. People never give him enough credit for his charity work or his willingness to help young players. Simple motivation like sending cigars before the Volunteers played their biggest game in over a decade is such good stuff. One only wishes he could’ve enjoyed such a signature moment during his time in Chicago. It seems like as the years go by, Bears fans gain a greater appreciation for what he accomplished.

Now one wonders what the future holds. Tennessee looks like they’re in a premium position to make a run at a national championship. Only Georgia stands in their way. That game is going to be something to watch. It will be interesting to see if Alabama can collect themselves enough to avoid missing the playoffs.

Only nerds had a problem with Cutler because of stupid insignificant stuff like “but, but he was making a facial gesture on the sideline durrr hurr” or “his answers to reporters at the post game press conference were very short and rude durrr hurrrr”. Those of us who know the game know that he was a tough QB who threw some beautiful passes if you gave him time. He had 4500 yards in DEN the year before coming to CHI and being run through a carousel of jabronis for offensive coordinators.
