The Russell Wilson situation is getting serious. Really serious. People tried to downplay it for the past week. There is no way the Seattle Seahawks would dare trade their superstar quarterback. No way. What they fail to realize is it might not be up to them anymore. Wilson isn’t happy. It seems he feels they’ve taken him for granted and refuse to build the offense around him.

So if they aren’t going to accommodate his requests, then he’ll just go somewhere else. Wilson listed four teams he’d prefer to land with in the event of a trade. Among them was the Chicago Bears, much to the shock of fans and media. Why in the world would the 32-year old have any interest in the Bears? It seems he is intrigued by the size of the market, the passion of the fans, and the presence of Matt Nagy as the head coach according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. He was also encouraged by the improvement of their offensive line.

He’s interested to see what the Bears do to improve over the next month.

Don’t mistake this as an empty threat either. All signs point to Wilson being dead serious. Fellow ESPN insider Dianna Russini revealed that the Seahawks have reached the point where they’ve begun listening to calls about potential trade options. They’re not “shopping” the quarterback but they are listening. That just feels like semantics at this point. If they felt he wasn’t going anywhere, they wouldn’t be taking calls in the first place.

While Wilson may want to stay in Seattle, it’s clear he feels there is no getting what he wants there. Not with Pete Carroll in charge. His only option is to go somewhere that will. There is no question a team like the Bears who are thirsty for a quarterback would pretty much give him whatever he wants. Similar to what happened with Tom Brady down in Tampa Bay.

Russell Wilson is worth the steep price for Chicago

He is a franchise quarterback. The living embodiment of it. That guy who makes sure you are never really out of a football game. People have made a lot out of what happened last season. How when the Seahawks willingly let him lead the offense with a more pass-first approach, it was a disaster. In reality, it really wasn’t. Across the first nine games, Wilson averaged 37 passes per game and had 28 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Seven of those picks came in the final four games. During which they played three really good defenses (Arizona, Buffalo, and L.A.).

Carroll reportedly pulled the plug after that, returning to a more run-oriented approach. The team managed to finish strong at 6-1, but Wilson seemed to lose steam, throwing just 12 touchdowns. That is probably a big reason why Seattle came out so flat and lifeless against the Rams in the playoffs. That was likely the breaking point for Russell Wilson. Confirmation the team brass didn’t trust putting it on his shoulders.

When they did nothing to deny it in January? The ball started rolling.

Now it’s picking up speed. Barring an unexpected change, Wilson could actually be traded in the next month or two. The Bears have a realistic shot. He’s interested in them and of the four teams on his list, the other three have noteworthy reasons not to go all-in. Chicago has no such qualms.

One thing is for sure. Betting on Chicago Bears game would be so much more fun with him at quarterback. If you want to get in the action, make sure to use PointsBet. They’ve partnered with the franchise and the promo code Mockery will get you two risk-free bets up to $2000 right off the bat.
