People can’t be satisfied with the fact Russell Wilson likes the idea of joining the Chicago Bears. What are you doing, Russ? It’s stupid. You’ll kill your career. Another sign the national media has no faith this team can properly build around and support a quarterback. No doubt they’re driven by the memories of what happened with Jay Cutler and the recent failures of Mitch Trubisky.

Yet those guys aren’t Wilson. He is a superstar and he views things through a different lens. According to the latest rumors, the 32-year old loves the allure of Chicago. He knows it’s a sports-crazy town. Play great there and you’re turned into a legend. He is fascinated by the idea of finally being that guy who fixes the Bears quarterback position after literal decades of mediocrity.

Competitors love a challenge. Wilson is a competitor.

Jimmy Graham has been lending an assist as well, talking up the city and franchise to his former teammate and “good friend.” Others like Devin Hester and even Chance The Rapper have joined in the recruiting pitch. While the Seattle Seahawks remain the favorites to keep Wilson in place, it’s at least clear the Bears have a shot. All they need is GM John Schneider to give the green light.

Meanwhile, the search for reasons why Wilson likes Chicago continues. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk was on the Rich Eisen Shown recently. He believes the Tom Brady situation in Tampa Bay played a huge part in this sequence of events. Wilson knows the Bears employ an offense similar to what the Chiefs have around Patrick Mahomes. An offense that is pass-first and designed to run through the quarterback.

Something the 32-year old has sought for quite some time in Seattle.

Russell Wilson knows he’d have more power in Chicago

He’s not stupid. He like everybody else knows the Bears are desperate for a quarterback. GM Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy would gladly roll out the red carpet for him. He’d have far more say in how he wants the offense to run and a strong voice in offensive personnel. Specifically regarding the offensive line which has consistently been an issue up in Seattle.

They would not take him for granted as perhaps the Seahawks have. He’s been in Seattle so long that some think the organization thinks he might be a bit overrated. Comparing himself to Mahomes or Brady is a stretch. This happens more times than people care to admit in sports. Smart money says the Seahawks wouldn’t take long to realize their mistake once Russell Wilson is out the door.

Either way, it’s apparent something has to change up there.

Most insiders echo the same thing. A breakup of some kind is coming. It just wasn’t expected this quickly. They believed it would’ve more likely started next year. By the sound of things, Wilson isn’t willing to put the confrontation off again. He’s not getting any younger and seems intent on seizing control of his career. Whether the Seahawks like it or not.

The betting odds on Wilson coming to Chicago are pretty long, so you might stand to make a lot of money if this happens. If so, I recommend using PointsBet. They allow risk-free bets up to $2000 and have partnered with the Chicago Bears. Just use the promo code Mockery.
