Stop if you’ve heard it before. Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams completed an absurd pass that went viral online. It seemed to be his favorite hobby last season. Almost half of the top ten throws of the entire NFL season were made by Williams. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that he picked up right where he left off at Organized Team Activities. This time, it is a video showing Williams rolling to his right. Then, in slow motion, he torques his body and unloads a bomb down the field to Rome Odunze for a touchdown.
Those in attendance were mesmerized by the feat. Adam Hoge of CHGO said it looked like it went 80 yards. Backup quarterback Case Keenum later confirmed the ball went 67 yards through the air. Understand that such an accomplishment is hard enough when your feet are set. Williams did it off balance and rolling away from Odunze. However, the story somehow still gets better. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the wind was blowing really hard that day. Weather data shows gusts reached 21 mph.
So Williams threw a ball 67 yards through the air, rolling to his right, in high wind conditions, and still hit Odunze in stride. Preposterous.
Caleb Williams keeps defying the laws of football physics.
Everybody knew the quarterback had a good arm. He’d showcased it for years at Oklahoma and USC in college. Yet even then, it seemed like they never fully grasped how strong it was. We might be talking about one of the two or three strongest arms in the NFL. His list of feats proving it keeps growing. Probably the craziest was the last-second touchdown to Cole Kmet in the playoffs to force overtime against L.A. Retreating ten yards after your deep drop and still having enough on the throw to get behind the defense is not normal.

You’d think the Bears’ defense would’ve been wary of that possibility in practice after seeing Williams do it so often. Clearly, lessons must be learned several times before they’re remembered. This serves as another reminder of why Chicago’s offense is a nightmare to defend. You have a running game that is back to being one of the best in the NFL. Now the Bears have a quarterback who not only has a strong arm but also enough accuracy to drop it on a dime while evading pressure. It’s not fair.
Williams has the Superman cape.
The trick moving forward is learning not to rely on it so often. That was something both he and the Bears did a lot in 2025. It led to most of their big 4th quarter comebacks, including the all-timer against Green Bay in the playoffs. The problem is that it’s difficult to win championships that way. For Williams, it must be about finding consistency. Learn how to be efficient. Force defenses to defend the easier plays. That way, when they start getting a sense they’re gaining some steam, Williams can put on that cape and ruin their day.
It is what made greats like Michael Jordan so spirit-crushing. Defenses would do everything right, and it still wouldn’t matter. That is the type of player Caleb Williams can be, in a football sense, of course. Patrick Mahomes? Josh Allen? He is very much in their league talent-wise. The hard part is finding the happy medium between a steady quarterback and an on-field magician. It certainly looks like Williams has some new tricks up his sleeve for the coming season.
